This level further broadens and revises the base repertoire covered in the first 2 Levels.
- Identification of Stability vs Rigidity
- patterns Motor control vs Strength programmes
Stability training requires a range of progressions for all exercises to further challenge motor
control on both Trapeze Table and Reformer. As clients advance the broader range of work
will suitably challenge motor programming More advanced case studies will be discussed along
with clinical examples of real time ultrasound testing.
The Clinical Pilates Register has been established and posted on the web site, from participants
who have completed this level. This provides a worldwide directory of experienced Pilates
Clinician physiotherapists in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, UK and Europe.
level-4 consolidation
The final level extends the repertoire even more by adding a further 26 clinically relevant exercises.
Modifications are demonstrated to allow the clinician to adapt their programmes more specifically
to pathology presentations.
Plyometrics are added to the repertoire along with advanced work and advanced clinical
reasoning. Complex cases will be discussed.
matwork course outline
level-1 matwork
Designed along the same lines as the highly renowned equipment series, the matwork / theraband
programme provides an excellent introduction to Clinical Pilates.
Level 1 introduces a base repertoire of clinically applicable pilates exercises. From there we
establish the exercise selection criteria that underpins the development of patient specific, exercise
based treatment programmes. Treatment predictors are unique to the clinical pilates programme
to help quickly differentiate motor control from pathology issues that will ensure more satisfactory
results differentiating neutral spine from direction specific approaches cleanly & succinctly.
Theraband applications are integrated into the programme helping provide a wider range of
options immediately for your patients.
level-2 matwork
Level 2 matwork introduces a further 32 exercises and modifications to build on the previously
learned repertoire. A wider range of shoulder girdle work is introduced incorporating cervical
spine management tools. Theraband management is also a feature of this level enhancing the
clinicians treatment options for both clinic and home based programmes.
This level will also address the relationship between hypermobility and instability and provides
invaluable assessment and management tools for handling those "complex" patients based on
emerging evidence.
The most up to date pelvic floor research will be added, addressing both male & female
populations.
