- Introductory Course
6 Apr, 19
9:00 am - 5:30 pm
The Introductory Course provides an initial overview of one of todays most popular methods of injury treatment & management. Over the last 30 years DMA introduced Clinical Pilates and set the gold standard. With new legal requirements under the 2019 Health Reforms there is another major shift in how Pilates can be used by physios, and its crucial for compliance.
We start by reviewing the research that defines it from the traditional Pilates approach moving into the “exercise is medicine” model. You will not be learning to teach a class as an instructor but a treatment & program model. The evidence base is presented within a translational research framework to clarify the changes that are occurring constantly.
For the first time undergraduates will gain an insight into the process of classifying patients into subgroups and an introduction to patient specific exercise selection in matwork, reformer & trapeze table exercises.
Health Reforms changes on April 1 will dramatically change how physios can use Pilates. “Pilates classes” will no longer be covered by the insurers. If you are a Physiotherapy student wanting a glimpse into the Clinical Pilates world and are curious as to what these changes will mean to your future, join us in MELBOURNE on APRIL 6th 2019.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to stay at the cutting edge of exercise medicine and demonstrate the value of evidence based and designed Clinical Pilates Physiotherapy treatment programs.
The Introductory course will be presented by: Craig Phillips & Treena Lord
